Data Value Workshop

Unlock the power of your data

In just two days, we assess your data landscape, identify high-value use cases and deliver a concrete roadmap for your modern data platform.

Turn untapped data into decisions

Most organizations sit on a wealth of untapped data , but fragmented systems, unclear priorities, and missing architecture prevent them from turning data into decisions. The Data Value Workshop by evoila changes that.

In a structured, hands-on format, we work with your business and IT stakeholders to map your data landscape, evaluate your AI readiness, and build a prioritized action plan. The result: a clear roadmap to a modern data platform that delivers measurable value – not a generic slide deck, but concrete next steps tailored to your organization.

What you walk away with:

  • Complete data map of your current landscape and pain points
  • AI and data maturity assessment of your existing architecture
  • Prioritized list of use cases ranked by business value and feasibility
  • Target architecture for a lakehouse-ready data platform
  • Actionable roadmap with quick wins and mid-to-long-term milestones

Organizations across industries face the same pattern

Data is collected everywhere, but no one has a clear picture of what exists, what matters, and what to do with it. Reports are assembled manually in Excel. Departments maintain their own data silos. And when leadership asks about AI readiness, the honest answer is often: “We don’t know where to start.”

The root causes run deeper than tools. There is no unified data strategy, no shared understanding of which use cases would drive the most value, and no target architecture that connects today’s infrastructure with tomorrow’s ambitions. Without this foundation, data initiatives stall, budgets are spent without measurable return, and the gap to data-mature competitors keeps widening.

Without a shared data foundation, initiatives stall and budgets disappear without measurable return

Every quarter you wait, the gap to your data-mature competitors gets wider.

The Challenge

Your data is everywhere, your strategy is nowhere

Organizations across every industry hit the same wall: data is collected everywhere, but nobody has a clear picture of what exists, what matters, and what to do with it. The root cause runs deeper than tools. There is no unified strategy, no agreement on which use cases drive the most value, and no architecture that bridges status quo and target state.

No single source of truth

No one can say what data exists, where it lives, or who owns it. Decisions rest on guesswork instead of evidence.

Business and IT pull apart

Priorities and investments are misaligned across the divide. Initiatives compete instead of compounding.

AI without a foundation

AI projects launch on shaky data and fail to scale. The proof of concept never reaches production.

Legacy holding you back

Existing infrastructure was never built for modern analytics or machine learning. The stack buckles under the workloads you actually need.

No map from here to there

Decision-makers can see the status quo and the ambition, but nothing connects them. Without a roadmap, every data initiative stalls before it starts.

The good news: you don’t need a year

Two days turns the fog into a plan.

Our Solution

From scattered data to a working roadmap in two days

The Data Value Workshop is a focused, outcome-driven engagement designed to bridge the gap between where your data is today and where it needs to be. We bring together your key stakeholders – business leaders, IT architects, data engineers, and domain experts – in a collaborative format that produces tangible results, not abstract recommendations.

Phase 1: Discovery & Status Quo

We start by understanding your current data landscape in depth. Which source systems exist? How does data flow between them? Where are the bottlenecks, quality issues, and governance gaps? We conduct a structured inventory and create a comprehensive data map that visualizes your as-is state – often the first time this holistic view has ever existed in the organization.

Phase 2: AI & Data Maturity Assessment

We evaluate how ready your existing architecture is for modern analytics and AI. This covers infrastructure (compute, storage, connectivity), data quality and governance, tooling and skillsets, and organizational readiness. The assessment results in a clear maturity score, highlighting exactly where you stand and what needs to change.

Phase 3: Use Case Discovery & Prioritization

Together with your business stakeholders, we identify concrete data and AI use cases that matter to your organization. Each use case is scored on business impact, technical feasibility, and data availability. The output is a prioritized use case list – not a wish list, but a ranked backlog grounded in your actual capabilities and gaps.

Phase 4: Target Architecture & Roadmap

Based on the findings, we design a target architecture for your data platform – lakehouse-ready, scalable, and aligned with your cloud or on-premises strategy. The roadmap breaks the journey into phases: quick wins you can realize within weeks, medium-term initiatives, and long-term transformation milestones. We include technology recommendations that are either platform-neutral or focused on Databricks, depending on your context.

Phase 5: Handover & Next Steps

You receive a comprehensive deliverable package and a clear recommendation for what comes next – whether that is a proof of concept, a platform implementation, or a deeper AI strategy engagement. Every workshop is designed as a natural entry point into evoila’s full Data & AI portfolio.

Tech-Deep-Dive

What happens under the hood

The Data Value Workshop follows a proven methodology covering both business and technical dimensions.

Data Landscape Mapping

We systematically catalog your data sources: operational databases, ERP and CRM systems, file shares, APIs, IoT streams, and third-party feeds. For each source, we capture metadata such as volume, update frequency, format, ownership, and known quality issues. The result is a visual data map that shows how data flows through your organization – and where it gets stuck.

Architecture Assessment

We evaluate your existing infrastructure against the requirements of a modern data platform. Key questions include: Can your current stack handle the compute demands of analytics and ML workloads? Is your storage scalable and cost-efficient? Are you operating in the cloud, on-premises, or hybrid – and does your architecture support where you want to go? We benchmark against industry-standard patterns such as the Medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold), Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog governance.

Data Quality & Governance Review

Poor data quality is the number one reason AI projects fail. We assess your data across completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and consistency. On the governance side, we evaluate access controls, lineage tracking, cataloging, and compliance readiness (GDPR, industry-specific regulations). This gives you a clear picture of your governance maturity and what needs to be in place before scaling AI.

Organizational & Cultural Readiness

Technology is only half the equation. We also assess your team structure, skill gaps, data literacy across the organization, and change management readiness. A lakehouse platform only delivers value if the people around it can operate, maintain, and evolve it.

Scoring & Benchmarking

All assessment dimensions are scored and visualized in a maturity matrix. This allows you to see at a glance where you are strong, where you have gaps, and how you compare to typical industry baselines. The matrix feeds directly into the prioritization of your roadmap.

Technical Advantages

Why this workshop is the ideal starting point for your data journey

The workshop compresses weeks of analysis into a structured two-day format. You walk out with a data map, maturity assessment, prioritized use cases and a roadmap. Deliverables that typically require lengthy consulting engagements.

Business and IT alignment from the start

By bringing business stakeholders and technical teams together in the same room, the workshop creates shared understanding and agreement on priorities. This eliminates the misalignment that derails so many data initiatives.

Vendor-neutral or Databricks-focused: Your choice

We tailor the technology recommendations to your context. If you are already in the Databricks ecosystem or considering it, we go deep on lakehouse architecture with Delta Lake and Unity Catalog. If you prefer a platform-neutral perspective, we deliver that instead.

A natural launchpad, not a dead end

Every deliverable is designed to feed into the next step – whether that is a proof of concept, a platform implementation, or an AI strategy workshop. The roadmap is actionable, not theoretical.

Holistic assessment beyond technology

We do not just look at your data stack. The workshop covers organizational readiness, skill gaps, culture, and change management – the factors that determine whether a data platform actually delivers value after go-live.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about the Data Value Workshop

The workshop works best with a mix of business and technical stakeholders. Ideally, you bring decision-makers from IT leadership (CTO, CIO, or Head of Data), relevant business units (Finance, Operations, or Sales), and hands-on data or BI engineers. We recommend 3 to 6 participants to keep the sessions productive and focused.

Minimal preparation is needed. We send a lightweight questionnaire ahead of time to understand your current systems, tools, and pain points. If you have existing architecture documentation or data catalogs, those are helpful but not required. The workshop is designed to work with whatever level of documentation you currently have.

You receive a comprehensive package including a visual data map, an AI and data maturity assessment with scores across multiple dimensions, a prioritized use case list, a pain point analysis, a target architecture design (lakehouse-ready), technology recommendations, and a phased roadmap with quick wins and long-term milestones. All deliverables are documented and presented in a final handover session.

You choose. We can deliver the workshop with a clear Databricks focus – including specific architecture patterns like the Medallion architecture, Unity Catalog governance, and Delta Lake – or take a platform-neutral approach that evaluates multiple options. We recommend discussing this in the free Starter session so we can tailor the workshop content accordingly.

The roadmap is designed as a launchpad. Typical next steps include a proof of concept for the highest-priority use case, a lakehouse platform implementation project, or an AI Strategy Workshop to deepen the AI dimension. evoila covers the full Data & AI lifecycle, from consulting through implementation to managed operations, so there is no gap between strategy and execution.
